The Patricians
Dissuasion group on a paper written by a member on a subject of Catholic interest and under the auspices of the legion and conducted according to its rules and has been found both educational an d entertaining. There is also a junior form.
Extra Voluntary Work Undertaken by Legionaries.
Many legionaries give up a week of their holidays to go to another country or parish, pay their fare they pay towards their board (bed and breakfast) and work all day from after Mass till about p..m. with a break for lunch and a smaller one for tea. They have a half-day on a Wednesday. House-to-house visitation is done to offer the Catholic faith to all and the Parish Priest is given a full report on the work done. The parish prepares for their visit by intensive prayer for the work The legionaries rely totally on the prayers of the parish. Follow up work is done by local legionaries where there is a presidia.(group)
Legionaries have gone to Germany, Finland, Holland, Sweden, Russia (even before the fall of the Berlin wall) they have now been to East Berlin to name but a few places.
Functions
Holy Mass is offered every November for all the Legionary dead
The Acies This is a ceremony of renewal of our consecration to Our Lady and is held in Salford Cathedral on the Friday nearest the Feast of the Annunciation.
The Annual Reunion is held as near as possible to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
The Outdoor Reunion is usually sometime in June and is to a place of interest.
The Presidium Reunion is held in September and local groups arrange their own or join with others.
Legionaries do not give or take money or material aid where there is need it is referred to another organisation. All work is highly confidential.
